Below is a brief explanation of the procedure you should follow when excessing equipment that belongs to the Computing Division.

If you plan to excess equipment that belongs to the Computing Division:
  1. You should first contact ELS at x3447 or prep@fnal.gov. Knowing ahead of time what and how much is to be excessed will help expedite the process.
  2. ELS will direct you to either bring the equipment to the FCC1 Service Counter or call BSS-Transportation Services Dispatch, aka HACK, at x4225 to arrange for a pick up. HACK will require a Material Move Request filled out to move the items. The 4-part paper form is available from your local admin assistant or from the FNAL Stockroom, item 1335-0140.
  3. Once received at Feynman, ELS will inventory the equipment and fill out the appropriate paperwork.
  4. The paperwork will be then be reviewed by the CD Equipment Manager. If it is deemed necessary, the division will be notified for further review.
  5. The equipment database is updated, this includes the closure of any maintenance contract agreements and sensitive item claims are closed with the Property office.
  6. Equipment will be shipped to Site 38 for Excess or recycled to the Equipment Pool.
