Equipment Logistics Services (ELS) is part of the Core Support Services Department and operates out of the Feynman Computing Center. ELS provides a variety of logistical and administrative support services pertaining to computer and high energy physics hardware.
 
ELS is closely aligned with the PREP and other CD groups concerning equipment processing and deployment for Experiments and other clients.
 
ELS also provides a link between the user community and services offered by the Computing Division's Electronics Systems Engineering (ESE).

Core Responsibilities
  • Cradle to grave management and tracking of over 35,000 electronic modules in the PREP equipment pool and more than 12,000 individual pieces of computing equipment in support of the Computing Division mission.
  • Tape handling efforts which include labeling, tab flipping, loading tapes into various automated tape handling systems and the storage of archive tapes at the request of system managers.
